DW air-wave system

The DW-SYSTEM air-wave system consists of a DW or D3 series switch and a command sensitive element (emitter: sensitive edge – pneumatic pad).

The air-wave (pressure or suction), generated by the emitter following a compression, is transmitted through a calibrated tube to the DW/D3 switch whose electrical contact is actuated by the deformation of its special flexible membrane. The DW/D3 air-wave switch is equipped with a compensation adjustment for variations in pressure, temperature and humidity. Various types of DW/D3 air-wave switches, safety pneumatic sensitive edges of different sizes and modular pneumatic pads are available. The DW-SYSTEM safety system is certified and achieves safety category B according to EN954-1.

The pressure wave generated by the compression of the sensitive edge is transmitted through a calibrated tube to the air-wave switch. The membrane inside undergoes deformation that causes the electrical contact to close or open.

DW air-wave switches are contact elements that can be used with working pressures from 0.2 to 50 mbar and are capable of switching electrical loads up to 0.5 A at 12 V to 220 V DC (AC1). The minimum actuation current is 20 mA 24 V. The self-cleaning electrical contact can be set for NA or NC operation, with either a pressure or suction signal. The contact pressure is directly proportional to the actuation pressure.

D3 air-wave switches are contact elements with working pressures from 2 to 5 mbar and can switch electrical loads up to 1 A – 250 V cacosfi = 1 and 0.3 A – 250 V cacosfi = 0.4. The rapid-acting self-cleaning electrical contact can be set for NA or NC operation, with either a pressure or suction signal. The contact pressure is independent of the actuation pressure. The mounting position is irrelevant.
