Safety bumpers

The operating principle is based on detecting a command signal generated by compressing the bumper, within which a sensitive strip is conveniently placed. ES-type equipment connected to the bumper provides continuous and precise monitoring of the system state, intervening instantly not only when the bumper is actuated but also in case of a fault or electrical circuit interruption. They can be manufactured in any shape and size according to customer specifications. Sensitive bumpers are constructed from polyurethane foam with differentiated density and may include additional protection in polyester fabric with high mechanical and chemical resistance or be coated with special paints that ensure durability even in hostile environments. The following types are available, according to the connection method:

• Type 1: For connection to dedicated equipment that monitors resistance R (2-wire technology). The typical open-circuit resistance is 8.2kΩ
• Type 2: For series connection with other bumpers or to safety modules that monitor short-circuit between input channels (4-wire technology)
• Type 3: For direct switching (maximum 10mA / 24 Vcc or 1A – 48V depending on the model).

The safety electric bumpers, together with ES control equipment, achieve safety categories PLe Cat. 3 according to EN ISO 13849, and comply with EN 1760-3 and EN ISO 13856-3.
