Electrical safety edges

The system is based on detecting a command signal generated by compressing an ENT electrical sensitive strip, conveniently positioned within an edge made of EPDM, NBR or PVC. Watertight and ideal for humid environments or extreme climatic variations, the electrical sensitive edges are available in various shapes and sizes, also custom-moulded to customer drawings. Electrical sensitive edges are normally supplied complete with the sensitive strip and an aluminium guide; however, the material required for their construction can also be purchased. The following types are available, according to the connection method:

• Type 1: for connection to dedicated equipment that monitors the resistance value R (2-wire technology). The typical open-circuit resistance is 8.2kΩ.
• Type 2: for series connection with other strips/edges or to safety modules that monitor short-circuit between input channels (4-wire technology)
• Type 3: for direct switching (maximum 1A – 42Vcc).

The electrical safety sensitive edges, together with ES control equipment, hold certifications according to European regulations, achieve safety categories PLe Cat. 3 according to EN ISO 13849, and comply with EN 1760-2 and EN ISO 13856-2.
